WASHINGTON, March 11, 2002 Mayors from the National League of Cities gathered at the Pentagon today to remember those killed in the terror attack on the building Sept. 11, 2001.
During a ceremony in the Pentagon's central courtyard, Mayor Karen Anderson of Minnetonka, Minn., said Americans would never forget those who died in the attacks on the Pentagon and in New York.
The mayors are here for their annual meeting.
The mayors also named the Pentagon's David O. Cooke, director of Washington Headquarters Services, an honorary mayor. Because he's been responsible for the security, maintenance and operation of DoD buildings in the Washington area for decades, Cooke is often called the "Mayor of the Pentagon."
