DoD Family Invited to Enter First Military Bridge Championship

WASHINGTON, March 11, 2002 – WASHINGTON, March 11, 2002 -- The first Military Bridge Championship will be held during the 2002 Summer North American Bridge Championships here July 18-28 at the Marriott Wardman Park Hotel.

Active and reserve component members of all the armed services, Department of Defense civilians, and family members will be eligible to compete for trophies by pre- registering at the summer nationals or the Summer NABC Web site.

The competition will be based on the total number of master points won through July 27 at the NABC by those registered to compete in the military bridge championship. Trophies will be awarded to the top three master point winners overall, the top three nonlife masters (under 500 points), and the top three under-20 players. There will also be awards for the top master point winner from each service.

All trophies and prizes will be awarded on July 28. A special reception will be held on Military Recognition Day, July 26.
