Secretary of Defense and Chairman of Joint Chiefs of Staff to Deliver Remarks 1 p.m. September 1, 2021

Secretary of Defense Lloyd J. Austin III and Chairman, Joint Chiefs of Staff,  Army Gen. Mark A. Milley will deliver remarks about the end of the military mission in Afghanistan in the Pentagon Briefing Room at 1 p.m. EDT tomorrow, September 1, 2021.

Due to COVID social distancing concerns, there will be 30 chairs for reporters in the room.  The seats are available on a first-come, first-served basis.  Only one seat per news organization is authorized.

There are no “standing areas” for this event.  If you do not have a chair, you will not be allowed to stand in the back or sit on the camera risers.  Reporters without a seat are invited to watch the press conference from Press Operations in 2D961 or from the press bullpens on CH2 in the Pentagon or see it livestreamed on Defense.gov.
