Readout of Virtual Meeting Between Acting Under Secretary of Defense for Policy Dr. James Anderson and Israel’s Director of Policy and Political Military Affairs Zohar Palti

Acting Under Secretary of Defense for Policy Dr. James Anderson and Israel’s Director of Policy and Political Military Affairs Zohar Palti hosted the annual U.S./Israel Defense Policy Advisory Group (DPAG) on July 28 and 29.  Last held on June 30, 2019, the DPAG is DoD’s senior recurring bilateral engagement with Israel’s Ministry of Defense and the Israel Defense Forces. 

The two leaders discussed regional security challenges and ways to further strengthen U.S.-Israel defense cooperation.  Dr. Anderson expressed the United States’ ironclad support for its partnership with Israel, and emphasized his support for maintaining Israel’s Qualitative Military Edge.  This was the first DPAG held virtually due to COVID-19 restrictions.
