General Officer Announcements

            Secretary of Defense Robert M. Gates announced today that the President has made the following nominations:
 
            Army Gen. George W. Casey Jr. has been nominated for appointment to the grade of general and assignment as chief of staff, U.S. Army, Washington, D.C. Casey is currently serving as the commander, Multi-National Force-Iraq, Operation Iraqi Freedom.
 
            Army Lt. Gen. David H. Petraeus has been nominated for appointment to the grade of general and assignment as commander, Multi-National Force-Iraq, Operation Iraqi Freedom. Petraeus is currently serving as commanding general, U.S. Army Combined Arms Center and Fort Leavenworth, Fort Leavenworth, Kan.
 
            Army Lt. Gen. James M. Dubik has been nominated for appointment to the grade of lieutenant general and assignment as commander, Multi-National Security Transition Command-Iraq, Operation Iraqi Freedom. Dubik is currently serving as commanding general, I Corps and Fort Lewis, Fort Lewis, Wash.
 
            Army Lt. Gen. Karl W. Eikenberry has been nominated for appointment to the grade of lieutenant general and assignment as the deputy chairman, North Atlantic Treaty Organization Military Committee, Brussels, Belgium. Eikenberry is currently serving as the commander, Combined Forces Command-Afghanistan, U.S. Central Command, Operation Enduring Freedom.
