General and Flag Officer Announcements
Secretary of Defense Robert M. Gates announced today that the President has made the following nominations:
Navy Rear Adm. Harold D. Starling II has been nominated for appointment to the grade of vice admiral and assignment as commander, Naval Network Warfare Command, Norfolk, Va. Starling is currently serving as commander, Naval Air Force, U.S. Atlantic Fleet, Norfolk, Va.
Marine Corps Maj. Gen. George J. Trautman III has been nominated for appointment as the deputy commandant of the Marine Corps for aviation, and for appointment to the grade of lieutenant general. Trautman is presently serving as the commanding general, 1st Marine Aircraft Wing, Okinawa, Japan.
