Secretary of Defense Robert M. Gates announced today that the President has made the following nominations:
Air Force Lt. Gen. Carrol H. Chandler has been nominated for appointment to the grade of general with assignment as commander, Pacific Air Forces; air component commander for U.S. Pacific Command; and executive director, Pacific Air Combat Operations Staff, Hickam Air Force Base, Hawaii. Chandler is currently serving as as deputy chief of staff, Air and Space Operations, Headquarters U.S. Air Force, Washington, D.C.
Air Force Maj. Gen. Daniel J. Darnell has been nominated for appointment to the grade of lieutenant general with assignment as deputy chief of staff, air, space and information operations, plans and requirements, Headquarters U.S. Air Force, Pentagon, Washington, D.C. Darnell is currently serving as director, legislative liaison, Office of the Secretary of the Air Force, Pentagon, Washington, D.C.
