General Officer Announcement

Secretary of Defense Robert M. Gates announced today that the President has nominated Army Maj. Gen. Eric B. Schoomaker for appointment to the rank of lieutenant general and assignment as commanding general, U.S. Army Medical Command/Surgeon General, U.S. Army, Falls Church, Va. He is currently serving as the commanding general, North Atlantic Regional Medical Command/Walter Reed Army Medical Center, Washington, D.C.
