The Army chief of staff announces the assignment of the following officers:
Maj. Gen. Jay W. Hood, commanding general, First Army Division East, Fort Meade, Md., to chief, Office of the Defense Representative, Pakistan.
Brig. Gen. William B. Garrett III to commanding general, U.S. Army Southern European Task Force (airborne), Italy. He most recently served as deputy director for operations, National Military Command Center, J-3, Joint Staff, Washington, D.C.
Col. Gary H. Cheek, who has been selected to be promoted to the rank of brigadier general, deputy director of strategy, plans and policy, Office of the Deputy Chief of Staff, G-3/5/7, U.S. Army, Washington, D.C., to assistant surgeon general for warrior care transition, Office of the Surgeon General, Washington, D.C.
