General Officer Announcement
Secretary of Defense Robert M. Gates announced today that the President has nominated Air Force Maj. Gen. Dana T. Atkins for appointment to the grade of lieutenant general with assignment as commander, Alaskan Command, U.S. Pacific Command; commander Eleventh Air Force, Pacific Air Forces; and commander, Alaskan North American Defense Region, Elmendorf Air Force Base, Alaska. Atkins is currently serving as director, operations, J-3, U.S. Pacific Command, Camp H. M. Smith, Hawaii. |
