GENERAL OFFICER ANNOUNCEMENT
Secretary of Defense William S. Cohen announced today that
the President has nominated Maj. Gen. Richard A. Chilcoat, U.S.
Army, for appointment to the grade of lieutenant general and
assignment as president, National Defense University. Since July
1994, he has served as the commandant, U.S. Army War College,
Carlisle Barracks, Pa.
Chilcoat was born on Sept. 16, 1938, in Wilmerding, Pa.
