GENERAL OFFICER ANNOUNCEMENT
Secretary of Defense William S. Cohen announced today that the President has nominated Maj. Gen. John E. Rhodes, United States Marine Corps, for appointment to the grade of lieutenant general and assignment as commanding general, Marine Corps Combat Development Command, Quantico, Va. Rhodes is currently serving as the deputy commanding general, Marine Corps Combat Development Command and has served in this capacity since July 1996.
Rhodes was born on Aug. 21, 1944 in Los Angeles, Calif.
