STATEMENT BY SECRETARY WILLIAM S. COHEN
General Ronald R. Fogleman has served his country with courage, vision and distinction for 34 years. As a young fighter pilot, he flew 315 combat missions. As the Commander in Chief of the Transportation Command, he helped upgrade the nation's power projection capability by bringing the C-17 into service. As the Air Force Chief of Staff, he was a forceful champion of global engagement.
I respect General Fogleman's personal decision to retire to pursue new opportunities after his service to the Air Force and to the nation.
