GENERAL OFFICER ANNOUNCEMENT
Secretary of Defense William S. Cohen announced today that the President has nominated Lt. Gen. Peter Pace, United States Marine Corps, for reappointment to the grade of lieutenant general with assignment as the commander, U.S. Marine Forces Atlantic/commanding general, Fleet Marine Force Atlantic.
Pace is currently assigned as the director of operations, J-3, Joint Staff, and has served in this capacity since July 1996.
Pace was born on Nov. 5, 1945 in Brooklyn, N.Y.
