GENERAL OFFICER ANNOUNCEMENT
Secretary of Defense William S. Cohen announced today that the President has nominated Maj. Gen. Jack P. Nix, Jr., U. S. Army, for appointment to the grade of lieutenant general and assignment as chief of staff, Allied Forces Southern Europe, Italy.
He is currently serving as the assistant chief of staff, C-3/J-3, Allied Land Forces Central Europe, Germany.
Nix was born on Sept. 10, 1947, in Gainesville, Ga.
