GENERAL OFFICER ANNOUNCEMENT
Secretary of Defense William S. Cohen announced today that the President has nominated Lt. Gen. Peter J. Schoomaker, U. S. Army, for appointment to the grade of general and assignment as commander in chief, United States Special Operations Command, MacDill Air Force Base, Fla.
Schoomaker is currently serving as the commanding general, United States Army Special Operations Command, Fort Bragg, N.C.
Schoomaker was born on Feb. 12, 1946, in Detroit, Mich.
