GENERAL OFFICER ANNOUNCEMENT
Secretary of Defense William S. Cohen announced today that the President has nominated Lt. Gen. George A. Fisher, Jr., United States Army, for reappointment to the grade of lieutenant general and assignment as commanding general, First U. S. Army, Fort Gillem, Ga.
Since June 1995, he has served as the chief of staff, U. S. Army Forces Command, Fort McPherson, Ga.
Fisher was born on July 1, 1942, in Little Rock, Ark.
