Flag Officer Announcements

            Secretary of the Navy Ray Mabus and Chief of Naval Operations Adm. Jonathan Greenert announced today the following assignments:

            Rear Adm. Philip S. Davidson will be assigned as deputy chief of staff for joint operations and fleet/joint training N3/N5/N7, U.S. Fleet Forces Command, Norfolk, Va.  Davidson is currently serving as senior military advisor to the U.S. special representative for Afghanistan and Pakistan, Washington, D.C.

            Rear Adm. Elizabeth S. Niemyer will be assigned as deputy chief wounded, ill, and injured, Bureau of Medicine and Surgery, Bethesda, Md.  Niemyer is currently serving as director of the nurse corps/deputy chief of staff for installations and logistics, M4, Bureau of Medicine and Surgery, Bethesda, Md.

            Rear Adm. (lower half) Douglas J. Venlet, who has been selected for the rank of rear admiral, will be assigned as director for international engagement, N52, OPNAV, Washington, D.C.  Venlet is currently serving as defense attache Russia, Defense Intelligence Agency, Moscow, Russia.
