General Officer Announcements
Secretary of Defense Leon E. Panetta announced today that President made the following nominations:
Marine Corps Reserve Brig. Gen. James M. Lariviere has been nominated for appointment to the rank of major general. Lariviere is currently serving as the commanding general, 4th Marine Division, New Orleans, La.
Marine Corps Reserve Col. Burke Whitman has been nominated for appointment to the rank of brigadier general. Whitman is currently serving as the regimental deputy commander, 25th Marine Regiment, Fort Devens, Mass.
