Secretary of Defense Leon E. Panetta announced today that the President has made the following nominations:
Marine Corps Lt. Gen. John M. Paxton Jr. for reappointment to the rank of lieutenant general, and for assignment as commander, U.S. Marine Corps Forces Command. Paxton is currently serving as the commanding general, II Marine Expeditionary Force; commander, U.S. Marine Corps Forces Africa, Camp Lejeune, N.C.
Marine Corps Lt. Gen. Robert B. Neller for reappointment to the rank of lieutenant general, and for assignment as commander, U.S. Marine Corps Forces Central Command. Neller is currently serving as the director for operations, J-3, Joint Staff, Washington, D.C.
Marine Corps Maj. Gen. John A. Toolan Jr. for appointment to the rank of lieutenant general, and for assignment as commanding general, I Marine Expeditionary Force. Toolan is currently serving as the commanding general, 2nd Marine Division, Camp Lejeune, N.C.
Marine Corps Maj. Gen. William M. Faulkner for appointment to the rank of lieutenant general, and for assignment as deputy commandant for installations and logistics. Faulkner is currently serving as the vice director, J-4, Joint Staff, Washington, D.C.
