General Officer Announcements

Secretary of Defense Chuck Hagel, announced today that the President has made the following nominates: 

            Marine Corps Lt. Gen. John E. Wissler for re-appointment to the grade of lieutenant general and for assignment as commanding general, III Marine Expeditionary Force; commander, Marine Forces Japan.  Wissler is currently serving as the deputy commandant for Programs and Resources. 

                Marine Corps Lt. Gen. Steven A. Hummer, for re-appointment to the rank of lieutenant general, and for assignment as deputy for military operations, U. S. Africa Command.  Hummer is currently serving as commander, Marine Forces Reserve; and commander, Marine Forces North. 

            Marine Corps Maj. Gen. Charles M. Gurganus for appointment to the rank of lieutenant general, and for assignment as the director of Marine Corps Staff.  Gurganus is currently serving as the commanding general, I Marine Expeditionary Force (Forward). 

            Marine Corps Lt. Gen. Kenneth J. Glueck, Jr. for re-appointment to the rank of lieutenant general, and for assignment as deputy commandant for Combat Development and Integration; commanding general, Marine Corps Combat Development Command; commander, U. S. Marine Forces Strategic Command; commanding general, Marine Corps National Capital Region Command; commander, U. S. Marine Corps Forces National Capital Region; and commander, U. S. Marine Forces Cyber Command.  Glueck is currently serving as commanding general, III Marine Expeditionary Force; commander, Marine Corps Bases, Japan; and commander, Marine Forces Japan. 

            Marine Corps Maj. Gen. Ronald L. Bailey for appointment to the rank of lieutenant general, and for assignment as deputy commandant for Plans, Policies and Operations, Headquarters U. S. Marine Corps.  Bailey is currently serving as the commanding general, 1st Marine Division.
