FLAG OFFICER ANNOUNCEMENT
Secretary of Defense William S. Cohen announced today that the President has nominated Rear Adm. (upper half) Edmund P. Giambastiani Jr., U.S. Navy, for appointment to the grade of vice admiral and assignment as commander, submarine force, U.S. Atlantic Fleet and commander, submarine allied command, Atlantic, Norfolk, Va.
Giambastiani is currently serving as director, submarine warfare division, N87, Office of the Chief of Naval Operations, the Pentagon, Washington, D.C.
Giambastiani was born May 4, 1948 in Canastota, N.Y.
