GENERAL OFFICER ANNOUNCEMENT
Secretary of Defense William S. Cohen announced today that the President has nominated Maj. Gen. Michael J. Williams, U.S. Marine Corps, for appointment to the grade of lieutenant general and assignment as deputy chief of staff for Programs and Resources, Headquarters, U.S. Marine Corps.
Williams is currently serving as commander, Marine Corps Systems Command, Quantico, Va.
Williams was born on July 12, 1943 in Baltimore, Md.
