Flag Officer Assignments

            The Secretary of the Navy Ray Mabus and Chief of Naval Operations Adm. Jonathan W. Greenert announced today the following assignments:

             Rear Adm. (lower half) Althea H. Coetzee, will be assigned as contingency contracting deputy director, Office of the Under Secretary of Defense (Acquisition, Technology and Logistics), Washington, D.C.  Coetzee is currently serving as executive director, deputy assistant secretary of the Navy (acquisition and procurement), Office of the Assistant Secretary of the Navy (research, development and acquisition), Washington, D.C.

             Rear Adm. (lower half) John C. Scorby Jr., will be assigned as commander, Navy Region Europe, Africa, Southwest Asia/commander, Maritime Air Forces, Naples, Italy.  Scorby is currently serving as commander, Navy Region Southeast, Jacksonville, Fla.

             Rear Adm. (lower half) Paul A. Sohl, will be assigned as commander, Fleet Readiness Centers/assistant commander for logistics and industrial operations (AIR-6.0) Naval Air Systems Command, Patuxent River, Md.  Sohl is currently serving as commander, Naval Air Warfare Center, Weapons Division/assistant commander for test and evaluation, Naval Air Systems Command (AIR-5.0), China Lake, Calif.

             Rear Adm. (lower half) Scott A. Stearney, will be assigned as commander, Strike Force Training Atlantic, Norfolk, Va.  Stearney is currently serving as commander, Joint Enabling Capabilities Command, U.S. Transportation Command, Norfolk, Va.

             Rear Adm. (lower half) Ricky L. Williamson, will be assigned as commander, Navy Region Southeast, Jacksonville, Fla.  Williamson is currently serving as commander, Navy Region Midwest, Great Lakes, Ill.

             Capt. Daniel H. Fillion, who has been selected for promotion to rear admiral (lower half), will be assigned as director, J-5, U.S. Southern Command, Miami, Fla.  Fillion is currently serving as executive assistant to the Assistant Secretary of the Navy Financial Management and Comptroller, Washington, D.C.

             Capt. Michael T. Moran, who has been selected for promotion to rear admiral (lower half), will be assigned as commander, Naval Air Warfare Center, Weapons Division/assistant commander for test and evaluation, Naval Air Systems Command (AIR-5.0), China Lake, Calif.  Moran is currently serving as military assistant, Office of the Secretary of Defense for Acquisition, Technology and Logistics, Washington, D.C. 

             Capt. Paul J. Verrastro, who has been selected for promotion to rear admiral (lower half), will be assigned as executive director, deputy assistant secretary of the Navy (acquisition and procurement), Office of the Assistant Secretary of the Navy (research, development and acquisition), Washington, D.C.  Verrastro is currently serving as commanding officer, Naval Supply Systems Command, Fleet Logistics Center, Pearl Harbor, Hawaii.
