General Officer Assignments

            The chief of staff, Army announced today the following assignments: 

            Brig. Gen. Bradley A. Becker, assistant deputy director for joint training, J-7, Joint Staff, Suffolk, Va., to commanding general, U.S. Army Training Center and Fort Jackson, Fort Jackson, S.C. 

            Brig. Gen. Kimberly Field, deputy director of strategy, plans and policy, Office of the Deputy Chief of Staff, G-3/5/7, U.S. Army, Washington, D.C., to deputy director for politico-military affairs (Middle East), J-5, Joint Staff, Washington, D.C. 

            Brig. Gen. Michael L. Howard, director, future operations, International Security Assistance Force Joint Command, Operation Enduring Freedom, Afghanistan, to senior commander, Fort Drum, Fort Drum, N.Y. 

            Brig. Gen. Robert P. White, deputy commanding general (support), 3rd Infantry Division (Mechanized)/deputy commander for support, Regional Command-South, International Security Assistance Force, North Atlantic Treaty Organization, Operation Enduring Freedom, Afghanistan, to director, Pakistan/Afghanistan coordination cell, J-5, Joint Staff, Washington, D.C.  He was previously announced for deputy director for politico-military affairs (Middle East), J-5, Joint Staff, Washington, D.C. 

            Col. James R. Blackburn, who has been nominated for the rank of brigadier general, assistant deputy director, operations, J-3, Joint Staff, Washington, D.C., to deputy commander for separates, International Security Assistance Force Joint Command, Operation Enduring Freedom, Afghanistan. 

            Col. Christopher G. Cavoli, who has been nominated for the rank of brigadier general, to deputy commander, 82nd Airborne Division, Fort Bragg, N.C.  He most recently served as director, chief of staff, Army Coordination Group, Office of the Chief of Staff, Army, Washington, D.C. 

            Col. Paul A. Chamberlain, who has been selected for the rank of brigadier general, acting director, operations and support, Office of the Assistant Secretary of the Army (Financial Management and Comptroller), Washington, D.C., to commander, U.S. Army Soldier Support Institute, Fort Jackson, S.C. 

            Col. William E. Cole, who has been nominated for the rank of brigadier general, to chief of staff, Office of the Assistant Secretary of the Army (Acquisition, Logistics and Technology), Washington, D.C.  He most recently served as director, Office of the Assistant Secretary of the Army (Acquisition, Logistics and Technology) (Forward), Operation Enduring Freedom, Afghanistan. 

            Col. Richard B. Dix, who has been nominated for the rank of brigadier general, executive officer to the deputy chief of staff, G-4, U.S. Army, Washington, D.C., to director for strategy and integration, Office of the Deputy Chief of Staff, G-4, U.S. Army, Washington, D.C. 

            Col. Jeffrey A. Farnsworth, who has been nominated for the rank of brigadier general, chief, space capabilities integration, Office of the Deputy Chief of Staff, G-3/5/7, U.S. Army, Washington, D.C., to deputy commander (operations), U.S. Army Space and Missile Defense Command/U.S. Army Forces Strategic Command, Peterson Air Force Base, Colo. 

            Col. Bryan P. Fenton, who has been selected for the rank of brigadier general, director of operations, Joint Special Operations Command, Fort Bragg, N.C., to deputy director of strategy, plans and policy, Office of the Deputy Chief of Staff, G-3/5/7, U.S. Army, Washington, D.C. 

            Col. Thomas C. Graves, who has been selected for the rank of brigadier general, to executive officer to supreme allied commander, Europe, Supreme Headquarters Allied Powers Europe, Belgium.  He most recently served as director, School of Advanced Military Studies, U.S. Army Command and General Staff College, Fort Leavenworth, Kan. 

            Col. Peter L. Jones, who has been selected for the rank of brigadier general, executive officer to the secretary of the Army, Office of the Secretary of the Army, Washington, D.C., to deputy commander, 3rd Infantry Division (Mechanized), Fort Stewart, Ga. 

            Col. Richard G. Kaiser, who has been selected for the rank of brigadier general, to deputy chief of staff for operations, Allied Rapid Reaction Corps, England.  He most recently served as chief of staff, 82rd Airborne Division, Fort Bragg, N.C. 

            Col. John S. Kem, who has been selected for the rank of brigadier general, to commanding general, U.S. Army Engineer Division, Northwestern, Portland, Ore.  He most recently served as chief, programs division, Office of the Chief, Legislative Liaison, Washington, D.C. 

            Col. Dennis S. McKean, who has been selected for the rank of brigadier general, to deputy commander, 1st Armored Division, Fort Bliss, Texas.  He most recently served as executive officer to the commander, United Nations Command/Combined Forces Command/commanding general, U.S. Forces Korea, Republic of Korea. 

            Col. Charles N. Pede, who has been selected for the rank of brigadier general, executive officer to the judge advocate general of the Army, Washington, D.C., to commander, U.S. Army Legal Services Agency/chief judge, U.S. Army Court of Criminal Appeals, Fort Belvoir, Va. 

            Col. Leopoldo A. Quintas Jr., who has been nominated for the rank of brigadier general, chief of staff, 3rd Infantry Division (Mechanized), Fort Stewart, Ga., to commandant, U.S. Army Armor School, U.S. Army Maneuver Center of Excellence, Fort Benning, Ga. 

            Col. Kurt J. Ryan, who has been nominated for the rank of brigadier general, military assistant to the assistant secretary of defense (logistics and materiel readiness), Washington, D.C., to commander, 593rd Sustainment Command (Expeditionary), Joint Base Lewis McChord, Wash.

             Col. Michael J. Warmack, who has been nominated for the rank of brigadier general, director, civil affairs branch, U.S. Army John F. Kennedy Special Warfare Center, Fort Bragg, N.C., to deputy chief, operations, Office of the Defense Representative-Pakistan, Pakistan.
