IMMEDIATE RELEASE No. 202-98
April 30, 1998

UNITED STATES PARTICIPATES IN COMBINED ENDEAVOR '98

In cooperation with the German Ministry of Defense, the U.S. European Command is sponsoring a communications and information systems interoperability exercise at Sembach Air Base, Germany, May 7-21, 1998. The most extensive multinational interoperability testing event ever conducted, Combined Endeavor 98 provides an unprecedented opportunity for the military staffs, about 400 personnel, of 28 NATO and Partnership for Peace (PfP) nations to find solutions to the challenges to communicate in a multi-service, multi-national environment that face them.

As future operations in the European theater will likely involve the militaries of several different nations, the interoperability of communications and computer systems between NATO and PfP nations will be critical to not only command and control, but also to mission success.

More information on this exercise can be accessed through the U.S. European Command homepage at http://www.eucom.mil.
