Readout of Deputy Secretary Work's Meeting with Norway's State Secretary for Defense Oystein Bo

Deputy Secretary of Defense Spokesperson Lt. Cmdr. Courtney Hillson provided the following readout:

Deputy Secretary of Defense Bob Work met with Norwegian State Secretary for Defense Oystein Bo at the Pentagon Sept. 12.

During their meeting, Work and Bo discussed wide-ranging areas of U.S.-Norwegian defense cooperation, to include Marine Corps Prepositioning equipment in Norway, F-35 procurement, initiatives coming out of the NATO Summit, and the comprehensive strategy to degrade and destroy the Islamic State of Iraq and the Levant (ISIL). They also touched on continuing concerns about Russia's actions in Ukraine.

The leaders stressed the value of partnerships and continuing to work with friends and allies around the world to confront emerging challenges.

Work and Bo exchanged insights on how to sustain robust military capabilities in fiscally constrained times and noted the strategic, operational, and tactical benefits of defense cooperation for both nations.
