GENERAL OFFICER ANNOUNCEMENT
Secretary of Defense William S. Cohen announced today that the President has nominated Maj. Gen. Robert F. Foley, U.S. Army, for appointment to the grade of lieutenant general and assignment as commanding general, Fifth U.S. Army, Fort Sam Houston, Texas.
Foley is currently serving as the commanding general, U.S. Army Military District of Washington, Fort Lesley J. McNair, Washington, D.C.
Foley was born on May 30, 1941, in Newton, Mass.
