GENERAL OFFICER ANNOUNCEMENT
Secretary of Defense William S. Cohen announced today that the President has nominated Lt. Gen. Edward G. Anderson III, U.S. Army, for reappointment to the grade of lieutenant general and assignment as director, Strategic Plans and Policy, J-5, Joint Staff, The Pentagon, Washington, D.C. Anderson is currently serving as the commanding general, U.S. Army, Space and Missile Defense Command, Arlington, Va.
Anderson was born on November 18, 1943, San Diego, Calif.
