FLAG OFFICER ANNOUNCEMENT
Secretary of Defense William S. Cohen announced today that the President has nominated Vice Adm. Herbert A. Browne Jr. II, U.S. Navy, for reappointment to the grade of vice admiral with assignment as deputy commander in chief/chief of staff, U.S. Space Command and vice commander in chief, North American Aerospace Defense Command at Peterson Air Force Base, Colo. Browne is currently serving as commander, 3rd Fleet in San Diego, Calif.
Browne was born Aug. 2, 1943, in McKinney, Texas.
