GENERAL OFFICER ANNOUNCEMENT
Secretary of Defense William S. Cohen announced today that the President has nominated Lt. Gen. Montgomery C. Meigs, U. S. Army, for appointment to the grade of general and assignment as vice chief of staff, U. S. Army, Washington, D.C. Meigs is currently serving as commanding general, U. S. Army Combined Arms Center, Fort Leavenworth, Kan.
Meigs was born on Jan. 11, 1945, in Annapolis, Md.
