GENERAL OFFICER ANNOUNCEMENT
Secretary of Defense William S. Cohen announced today that the President has nominated Gen. Eric K. Shinseki, U.S. Army, for reappointment to the grade of general with assignment as the vice chief of staff, U.S. Army, Washington, DC. Shinseki is currently serving as the commanding general, U.S. Army Europe and Seventh Army, Germany.
Shinseki was born on Nov. 28, 1942, in Lihue, Kauai, Hawaii.
