MAJ. GEN. REESE R. NIELSEN APPOINTED TO RESERVE FORCES POLICY BOARD
Secretary of Defense William S. Cohen has announced the designation of Maj. Gen. Reese R. Nielsen as the Air Force Reserve member of the Reserve Forces Policy Board, effective Oct. 1, 1998.
The 24-member board was created by Congress in 1952.
Acting through the assistant secretary of Defense for Reserve Affairs, the board serves as the principal policy advisor to the secretary of Defense on military reserve force matters.
Members include the assistant secretary responsible for reserve affairs from each of the military departments, and active and reserve component general and flag officers representing all Services, including the Coast Guard.
Neilsen is currently serving as the mobilization assistant to the commander in chief, U.S. Space Command, Peterson Air Force Base, Colo.
His recent military experience includes service as mobilization assistant to the commanders of U.S. Southern Command Air Forces and 12th Air Force, Davis-Monthan Air Force Base, Ariz.
He is a command pilot with more than 3,600 flying hours.
