Deputy Secretary of Defense John Hamre announced the winners of the Eighth Annual Secretary of Defense Community Drug Awareness Awards in a ceremony held in the Pentagon today.
Awards are presented annually in recognition of outstanding command efforts to educate military personnel, their family members, and members of the communities in which they reside, to the dangers of drug abuse. The winners are:
Puppets for Prevention Program, Headquarters, U.S. Army Garrison, Fort Wainwright, Alaska.
Campaign Drug Free Program, Naval Reserve Center, Kansas City, Mo.
Consolidated Substance Abuse Counseling Center, Quantico Marine Corps Base, Va.
Drug Demand Reduction Program, Goodfellow Air Force Base, Texas.
Community Anti-Drug Coalition Support Program, Florida National Guard, Fla.
Defense Supply Center, Defense Logistics Agency, Columbus, Ohio.
