Secretary of Defense William S. Cohen will depart for Europe late this evening to consult with NATO allies and commanders in Brussels and to visit with U.S. forces supporting NATO's Operation Allied Force at Aviano Air Base, Italy.
A Congressional delegation will travel with Cohen. The delegation includes Sens. Chuck Hagel, R-Neb.; Carl Levin, D-Mich.; Joseph I. Lieberman, D-Conn.; John McCain, R-Ariz.; and Jack Reed, D-R.I. Sen. Tim Hutchinson, R-Ark., will join the delegation in Italy. Delegation members from the House of Representatives are Reps. Steve Buyer, R-Ind.; Sam Gejdenson, D-Conn.; Ike Skelton, D-Mo.; John Spratt, D-S.C.; Ellen Tauscher, D-Calif.; and Jim Turner, D-Texas.
The Secretary will return to Washington, D.C., late Thursday.
