GENERAL OFFICER ANNOUNCEMENT
Secretary of Defense William S. Cohen announced today that the President has nominated Gen. Eric K. Shinseki, U.S. Army, for reappointment to the grade of general and assignment as chief of staff, U.S. Army. Shinseki is currently serving as vice chief of staff, U.S. Army.
Shinseki was born on Nov. 28, 1942, in Lihue on the island of Kauai, Hawaii.
