GENERAL OFFICER ANNOUNCEMENT
Secretary of Defense William S. Cohen announced today that the President has nominated Lt. Gen. James L. Jones, U.S. Marine Corps, for appointment to the grade of general and assignment as commandant of the Marine Corps. Jones is currently serving as military assistant to the secretary of Defense.
Jones was born on Dec. 19, 1943, in Kansas City, Mo.
