MAJ. GEN. WILFRED HESSERT APPOINTED TO RESERVE FORCES POLICY BOARD
Secretary of Defense William S. Cohen has announced the designation of Air National Guard Maj. Gen. Wilfred Hessert as the military executive of the Reserve Forces Policy Board, effective July 1, 1999.
The 24-member board was created by Congress in 1952.
Acting through the assistant secretary of Defense for Reserve Affairs, the board serves as the principal policy advisor to the secretary of Defense on military reserve force matters.
Members include the assistant secretary responsible for reserve affairs from each of the military departments, and active duty and reserve forces general and flag officers representing all Services, including the Coast Guard.
Hessert is currently serving as the deputy inspector general, Headquarters, U.S. Air Force, Washington, D.C.
His recent military experience includes service as Air National Guard advisor to the commander, U.S. Air Forces, Europe, and commander, 101st Air Refueling Wing, Maine Air National Guard.
