STATEMENT BY SECRETARY OF DEFENSE WILLIAM S. COHEN
I am shocked and saddened by the tragic accident that occurred Sunday in Darmstadt, resulting in the death of two German citizens and injury of five more. German and American officials are and will continue to work closely together as the investigation unfolds.
On behalf of all Americans, particularly the U.S. servicemen and servicewomen who serve side by side with the German military, ensuring peace and stability throughout Europe, our thoughts and prayers are with the families of the victims who have experienced a terrible and senseless loss.
