FLAG OFFICER ANNOUNCEMENT

Secretary of Defense William S. Cohen announced today that the President has nominated Navy Adm. Vern E. Clark for appointment to the grade of admiral and assignment as chief of Naval Operations, Washington, D.C. Clark is currently serving as commander, U.S. Atlantic Fleet, Norfolk, Va.
