FLAG OFFICER ANNOUNCEMENT
Secretary of Defense William S. Cohen announced today that the President has nominated Navy Vice Adm. Gregory G. Johnson for appointment to the grade of vice admiral with assignment as commander, Sixth Fleet, and commander, Naval Striking and Support Forces, Southern Europe, Gaeta, Italy.
Johnson currently serves as senior military assistant to the secretary of Defense in the Pentagon, Washington, D.C.
