GENERAL OFFICER ANNOUNCEMENT
Secretary of Defense William S. Cohen announced today that the President has nominated Army Lt. Gen. Tommy R. Franks for appointment to the grade of general with assignment as commander in chief, U. S. Central Command, MacDill Air Force Base, Fla.
Franks is currently serving as the commanding general, Third U. S. Army, Fort McPherson, Ga.
