As part of its continuing effort to harness the power of the Internet for recruiting, the Navy Recruiting Command has unveiled a newly revised NavyJobs.com website at http://www.navyjobs.com
"One of our primary objectives is to have a more prominent web presence," said Rear Adm. Barbara McGann, commander, Navy Recruiting Command. "This upgrade is the first of many ongoing improvements towards realizing that objective." Enhanced multimedia features of the upgraded site include downloadable videos and Navy digital images.
NavyJobs.com has nearly doubled its productivity in generating leads and contracts over the past year. As of May 29, Navyjobs.com has produced 89,928 recruiting leads for the fiscal year compared to 45,457 at the same point last year. Recruiting contracts resulting from NavyJobs.com are 3,949 this fiscal year versus 2,381 at the same point last year. The Navy expects even better results from the newly redesigned site.
"The next generation of young adults, known as 'Generation Y' or 'Echo Boomers,' are very adept navigators of the Internet," said McGann. "Our redesigned NavyJobs.com website will become an even better venue to reach out and tell them -- in their medium of choice -- about the great opportunities the Navy offers."
The Navy is making NavyJobs.com more of an informative and interactive site for its visitors. "Eventually our online recruiters and the NavyJobs.com site will combine to form one resource center," said Lt. Cmdr. Nick Dodge, director of the Navy's Electronic Recruiting Division. "I want the website to attract visitors, educate and train, and ultimately process interested individuals for officer and enlisted programs.
"The challenge of recruiting is hard enough. Having a highly developed web page to help market the Navy is a key element in the high-tech computer environment of today and tomorrow," said Steve Batiz, vice president of Batiz.com , designer of the site. Batiz says the creative ideas behind the design of the website are intended to make it a great tool for a very diverse market, from children under 15 to parents, college graduates, professionals and Navy veterans.
The Navy intends to make additional updates several times during the summer. "We will be updating this site approximately every eight weeks with new information, features, and material," said Dodge. "I would like this site to be a place everyone can come and learn about the Navy."
