GENERAL OFFICER ANNOUNCEMENT
Secretary of Defense William S. Cohen announced today that the President has nominated Air Force Lt. Gen. Norton A. Schwartz for reappointment to the grade of lieutenant general with assignment as commander, Alaskan Command, United States Pacific Command; commander, Eleventh Air Force, Pacific Air Forces; and commander, Alaskan NORAD Region, Elmendorf AFB, Alaska. Schwartz is currently assigned as deputy commander in chief, United States Special Operations Command, MacDill AFB, Fla.
