FLAG OFFICER ANNOUNCEMENT

Secretary of Defense William S. Cohen announced today that the President has nominated Navy Vice Adm. William J. Fallon for appointment to the grade of admiral with assignment as vice chief of Naval Operations, Pentagon, Washington D.C. Fallon is currently serving as commander, Second Fleet and commander, Striking Fleet Atlantic in Norfolk, Va.
