REAR ADMIRAL RICHARD M. LARRABEE
APPOINTED TO RESERVE FORCES POLICY BOARD
Secretary of Defense William Perry has announced the designation of Rear
Admiral Richard M. Larrabee as a member of the Reserve Forces Policy Board.
The admiral currently serves as the chief of the Office of Readiness and
Reserve, U.S. Coast Guard, Headquarters, Washington, D.C.
The 22-member Reserve Forces Policy Board was created by Congress in 1952.
Acting through the assistant secretary of Defense for Reserve Affairs, the
board serves as the principle policy advisor to the Secretary of Defense on
reserve component matters. Members include the assistant secretary responsible
for reserve affairs from each of the military departments, and active and
reserve component general and flag officers representing all Services,
including the Coast Guard.
Admiral Larrabee graduated from the U.S. Coast Guard Academy in 1967. He also
holds a masters degree in Ocean Engineering from the University of Rhode
Island. He has held a variety of staff and command positions; most recently
having served as the assistant superintendent of the U.S. Coast Guard
Academy.
Admiral Larrabee's military awards include the Legion of Merit with one
device, Meritorious Service Medal, Coast Guard Commendation Medal, Coast
Guard Achievement Medal with two devices, the Special Operations Ribbon, and
Coast Guard Meritorious Unit Commendation.
Admiral Larrabee is married to the former Pamela Gnazzo of Farmington, Conn.
Their daughter, Jennifer, lives and works in New York City.
