FLAG OFFICER ANNOUNCEMENT
Secretary of Defense Donald H. Rumsfeld announced today that the President has nominated Navy Rear Adm. James C. Dawson, Jr. for appointment to the grade of vice admiral and assignment as commander, U.S. Naval Forces, Central Command and commander, Fifth Fleet in Bahrain. Dawson is currently serving as chief of legislative affairs, Office of the Secretary of the Navy, Pentagon, Washington, D.C.
