DR. CRAIG FIELDS NAMED CHAIRMAN OF THE DEFENSE SCIENCE BOARD
Secretary of Defense William Perry has announced the appointment of Dr. Craig
I. Fields as chairman of the Defense Science Board for a term effective
immediately through December 31, 1996.
Dr. Fields succeeds Dr. Paul G. Kaminski, who served as chairman of the Defense
Science Board from May 1993 to October 1994.
A former director of the Defense
Advanced Research Projects Agency, Dr. Fields is currently vice chairman of
United Gaming, Incorporated.
The Defense Science Board is the senior advisory body of the Department of
Defense.
It is composed of members appointed from the private sector.
The
board advises the secretary of Defense, the deputy secretary of Defense, the
chairman of the Joint Chiefs of Staff, and the undersecretary of Defense
(Acquisition and Technology) on scientific, technical, manufacturing, and other
matters of special importance to the Department of Defense.
