RUMSFELD UNDERGOES OUTPATIENT PROCEDURE AT WALTER REED
Secretary of Defense Donald H. Rumsfeld underwent an outpatient surgical procedure this morning at Walter Reed Army Medical Center to correct an arthritic problem at the base of his left thumb. The procedure took approximately three hours. General anesthesia was not needed. He will wear a cast on his left forearm for the next four to six weeks.
