The Department of Defense (DoD) Tricare Management Activity (TMA) released a request for proposal (RFP) today for a multibillion dollar health care delivery package to serve DoD's 8.7 million Tricare beneficiaries.
"Our new Tricare contracts will reward superior customer service, simplify administration of Tricare, and increase the ability of local medical commanders to best serve their local beneficiaries," said Assistant Secretary of Defense for Health Affairs Dr. William Winkenwerder.
The solicitation will result in the award of three contracts covering the North, South and Western regions of the United States. Each contract includes a transition period of 10 months, plus five one-year option periods for health care delivery.
Copies of the solicitation are available electronically only and may be downloaded from the Tricare Web site at http://www.tricare.osd.mil/contracting/healthcare/solicitations/ . Paper copies will not be made available. Questions must be submitted electronically through the Tricare Web site using the "E-mail Questions to the Contracting Officer" option.
Proposals are to be submitted electronically. TMA will announce the contract awards at a later date to be determined.
Subsequent solicitation announcements will be forthcoming for other support services.
